Breezy holiday getaway to the Bahamas? Rugged jungle trek through the Colombian Amazon? Elegant wedding in charming East Coast, Nova Scotia? Blisteringly beautiful honeymoon in Morocco? Knockout modelling photo shoots and drop-dead gorgeous glamour shots? You get the idea. The options are endless with, what we refer to now as, our “Swiss Army Jackknife” of compact cameras.

It’s been nearly a year now since we invested in not one, but two of the treasured Lumix DMC-LX100 cameras from Panasonic. And since then, as its audience knows all too well, our Instagram channel has been riddled with those #wherelumixgoes and #lx100 hashtags that give the humble workhorse the recognition it deserves. Have a look for yourself between our website here and our Instagram account @montgomery.picture connected to its sidebar. The striking aesthetic certainly speaks for itself.

A lot of gear reviews out there focus exclusively on the technical details that back up their images… but the Montgomery Picture has so much more to say on a personal and creative level. Take the stunning sunset above for example. This was taken by yours truly after riding a little, old Honda Nighthawk over a thousand miles south of Toronto to North Carolina, chasing those sunsets for the reason they call it the Blue Ridge. The photo has since been featured on Appalachia Instagram accounts with a lot of professional adoration. We needed a camera with the proper balance of clarity, colour, sensor dimensions, and resistance to darkness – not to mention the capture speed and compact size needed to draw as quickly as a Wild West street duel. And these are the kinds of shots you get for Panasonic’s unbeatable bargain:

Furthermore, since we’re professional photographers and filmmakers, the run-and-gun LX100 decision was also, naturally, a careful consideration of video capabilities. With full, razor-sharp 4K video capture at 24p and 30p and an internal stabilization system for a very reasonable price… it was a no-brainer for us at the Montgomery Picture. We were able to return from the wild South American landscape with a short film that captured that raw beauty of our experience. “Canada to Colombia” is the resulting video product of an adventure we’ll never forget, especially because of the versatility and prowess this camera was able to provide. Get the LX100 in your hands, on the run in busy crowds, sensory overload jungle hikes, or cold and dicey mountain treks… and you’ll know exactly what we’re talking about. It’s an old-fashioned build with a solid aluminum body and weather resistance for all kinds of wanderlusters; from the Indiana Joneses and the war journalists to the country glampers and the luxury retreatists. We’ll say it again: it’s Panasonic’s hidden gem and Swiss Army Jackknife of cameras. And it has served that role for a while now in a highly competitive market that usually beats down cameras each year. Feast your eyes on the adventure here:

Not everyone out there is looking for an adventurous travel tool though – we get that! That’s why we also recommend the Lumix LX100 for weddings, portraits, and glamour shots. You want to take gorgeous photos of the people you love, the striking styles you admire, or the moments that take your breath away? Without having to tow around a heavy bag of kit lenses, this exquisite, compact soldier will capture everything and everyone just the way you want it to: from this gorgeous model to the joyful moments of that special day below.
